The Office Main Characters
David Brent
David Brent is the general manager of the Slough branch of Wernham Hogg paper merchants. Insecure and narcissistic, he believes he is a successful maverick in the business world and a Renaissance man, talented in philosophy, music and comedy.
Tim Canterbury
Tim is a Sales Rep crushingly aware of the pointlessness of his work and the mediocrity that surrounds him. He is the classic under-achiever who rolled life’s dice and got a three. He derives a modicum of pleasure from irritating
co-worker Gareth.
Gareth Keenan
Gareth’s levels of self-importance holds no bounds.
Gareth is extremely possessive of his stapler and desk space. His considerable naivety allows others, in particular Tim, to make him the butt of endless put-downs and practical jokes.
Dawn Tinsley
Dawn Tinsley is the company receptionist and David Brent’s dogsbody. She frequently has to put up with his attempts at humour and social interaction. Like Tim, she hates working at Wernham Hogg and wonders why she is even there.
Jennifer Taylor-Clarke
Jennifer Taylor-Clarke was David Brent’s immediate boss in series one, but the because a partner of Wernham Hogg in series 2. She is serious, professional and can’t stand or tolerate David’s sense of humour and unprofessionalism.
Ricky Howard
Ricky Howard was David Brent’s new temp in the pilot, and a recent graduate. He featured a lot in episode three, where he and Tim form a team for trivia night.
Chris Finch
Finchy is an outside sales rep for Wernham Hogg. He is brash, narcissistic and dominates every conversation he’s involved in. Chris is a bully and makes fun of David at every opportunity.
Neil Godwin
Neil Godwin (Patrick Baladi) is Brent’s counterpart at the Swindon branch and eventual boss. He’s charming, younger than Brent, professional and energetic, a more competent manager than Brent. The staff love him. Brent is jealous of him.
Rachel
Rachel is a fun, bubbly and attractive co-worker who is in a relationship with Tim. After a deluded Gareth reveals his plans to seduce her, Tim is shocked when she begins to pressure him to make a greater commitment.
Anne
Anne only appears in the Christmas special episode.
She is Tim’s pregnant desk mate. She annoys him as she speaks continuously about herself and other topics no one else is interested in.
